This painting was overall winner of Bird Artist of the Year 2002, BIRDWATCH (May 2002). The composition was formulated in Thailand. I have never seen Garnet Pitta in Thailand. I have, however, seen them very well in Borneo.

A large amount of field work went into producing this painting. Most of this picture was painted in Khao Yai National Park, Thailand, in March 2001. The buttress featured is about 800m from the main road along trail 33 on the right hand side of the path. Although a common bird in Thailand, Siberian Blue Robins can be very difficult to view well.
